About DJ Willy
DJ Willy, real name Humphrey Willemzorg, is originally from Suriname in South America, DJ Willy’s musical interests span from disco and house to rhythm and blues and Latin. It was back in 1980 when he first appeared as a DJ in his native country Suriname in South America. The club where he worked for almost eight years became the most popular one in the country and still is. Willy moved to Holland in 1992 and one year later he was asked to work for the then-famous Latin club, Margarita’s, in Amsterdam, He has been living in Amsterdam, Netherlands for a while now. His passion from music originated from his roots in Suriname, where music and dancing are a part of life.
He is known as one of the most popular Salsa & Latin DJ’s worldwide at the moment, with gigs at the most popular congresses and Festivals in Europe & Asia!
Willy is a soulful guy that always has a smile on his face and with his great knowledge for and passion of Latin music, he will have you dancing all night long!
From 1994 on DJ Willy became popular at many Latin parties in and outside Amsterdam. He has DJ’d during big concerts from some of Latin music’s top artists such as Eddie Palmieri, Grupo Niche, Jose Alberto, Manolito y su Trabuco, Adalberto Alvarez and many more.
DJ Willy’s international career took off in the first half of the year 2000 when, while visiting a salsa festival in Barcelona, he was given the opportunity to play a 45 minute set. The dance floor was on fire and since then he’s been playing his tracks in most cities of Europe such as Barcelona, Brussels, Paris, London, Berlin, Sofia, Bucharest, Budapest, Athens, Zurich Rovinj, Zagreb, Milan, Vienna, Warsaw and outside Europe in places such as Dubai, Bangalore and Cape Town!
His career as a DJ has been running for more than 35 years now and he still takes great pleasure to spin for the party crowd.
